reportaproblem.apple.comNeed a real device: Push2Unlock's app-blocking uses Apple Screen Time, which only works on a physical iPhone (iOS 17+) — not in the Simulator.

Getting started
How does Push2Unlock work?
Pick the apps you want to block. When you open a blocked app, you'll see a lock screen instead. To earn it back, do real push-ups, squats, or sit-ups in front of the camera — the app counts your reps on-device. Finish your set and you get a timed unlock window. When the timer ends, the apps re-lock automatically.
What do I need to use it?
- An iPhone running iOS 17 or later.
- Screen Time permission (to block apps).
- Camera permission (to count reps).
- A bit of space to exercise and a spot to prop up your phone.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no sign-up and no account. Your settings and stats live on your device.
Permissions (Screen Time & camera)
Why does it need Screen Time access?
App blocking is built on Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) system. This is the only way an app can block other apps on iOS. Push2Unlock uses it solely to shield and un-shield the apps you choose — nothing is sent anywhere.
I denied Screen Time / camera. How do I turn it back on?
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Scroll to Push2Unlock.
- Enable Camera, and for blocking enable Screen Time (Settings → Screen Time → see all apps with access).
The app won't work without these — blocking needs Screen Time, counting needs the camera.
Does the camera record me?
No. Video is processed live on your device by Apple Vision and is never recorded, saved, or uploaded. See Privacy.
Rep counting & form
My reps aren't counting. What should I check?
- Framing: get your whole body in frame. Prop the phone ~1.5–2 m away, side-on.
- Lighting: make sure the room is well lit — backlight and shadows hurt detection.
- Full range of motion: go all the way down and lock out at the top. Half reps are ignored on purpose.
- Speed: very fast reps are skipped as implausible — controlled reps count.
- Watch the on-screen hints ("Go lower", "Move back") — they tell you exactly what to fix.
Where should I put my phone?
- Push-ups: phone on the floor against a wall/bottle, ~1.5–2 m away, side view.
- Squats: stand 2–2.5 m away, full body in frame, side or 45°.
- Sit-ups: phone on the floor at your side, ~1.5 m, side view.
The app shows a framing check before counting — a green outline means it can see you.
Can I cheat the counter?
It's designed to resist that. Reps must be full-range, at a realistic speed, with your body in the correct position. Waving a hand or doing half reps won't count.
The counting feels too strict or too loose.
Open Settings → Counting sensitivity and choose Strict, Normal, or Forgiving to adjust how hard the reps are to register.
App blocking, modes & schedules
How do I choose which apps to block?
Tap to pick apps via Apple's app picker. Because of Apple privacy rules, the picker shows the real app names and icons — search for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, and so on. You can also block whole categories or websites.
What are modes and schedules?
- Modes are reusable blocklists (e.g. "Social Media", "Deep Work") with their own rep target.
- Schedules lock a mode automatically at set times and days — including overnight ranges like 11pm–7am.
Why can't I edit a mode or schedule while I'm locked?
To stop you from editing your way out of a block, any mode or schedule that existed before the current lock started is frozen while you're locked. Anything you create during a lock stays editable. Once you're unlocked, everything is editable again.
Blocking stopped working / apps open without a lock.
- Check Screen Time permission is still granted (Settings → Screen Time).
- Make sure the app or schedule is actually enabled and you're inside its window.
- iOS can delay system scheduling briefly — open Push2Unlock once to let it reconcile the lock state.
Unlock windows & re-locking
How long do I get after finishing a set?
You choose a break length when you start — 15, 30, 60, or 120 minutes. A countdown appears on your Lock Screen (Live Activity). When it ends, the apps re-lock on their own.
Why only 15 minutes minimum?
Apple's Screen Time scheduling has a 15-minute minimum interval for automatic re-locking, so shorter windows aren't possible.
My apps didn't re-lock when the timer ended.
iOS occasionally delays the background re-lock. Push2Unlock has a fallback: just open the app once and it immediately re-applies the locks if your window has expired.
Subscriptions & billing
What does it cost?
There's a 3-day free trial. After that: $9.99/month, $29.99/year (best value, ~$2.50/mo), or a one-time $49.99 lifetime purchase. Prices may vary by region.
How do I cancel?
On your iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Push2Unlock → Cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or period ends to avoid the next charge. You keep access until the period ends.
How do I get a refund?
All purchases go through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We're generally unable to issue refunds directly.
I paid but the app says I'm not subscribed.
- Make sure you're signed in with the Apple ID you purchased with.
- In the app, tap Restore Purchases (on the paywall or in Settings).
- Still stuck? Email us with the date and Apple receipt and we'll help.
Privacy
What data do you collect?
Rep detection runs entirely on-device. No video ever leaves your phone, there's no account, and your workouts aren't uploaded. Full details in our Privacy Policy.
What happens if I delete the app?
Deleting Push2Unlock removes the blocks and your local data. We can't prevent deletion — that's an Apple system-level action — so it's the one way blocks can be removed.
Troubleshooting
The app is acting up — first things to try
- Force-quit and reopen Push2Unlock.
- Confirm Camera and Screen Time permissions are granted (Settings).
- Restart your iPhone.
- Make sure you're on iOS 17 or later and have the latest app version.
If it persists, email us with your iPhone model, iOS version, and what happened.
"I can't see you" keeps showing
That means the camera can't track your full body. Improve the lighting, move so your whole body is in frame, and re-prop the phone at the suggested distance and angle.
A workout got interrupted by a call
Your progress is paused, not lost. Come back and you'll be offered to continue from where you left off. Force-quitting mid-workout does lose the in-progress set.
